I'm a first generation Canadian. My parents moved here from Germany in the mid 1960s, which means that we spoke German at home and also went to German school every Saturday morning. Many of my old friends from those days still speak German (to some degree) with their parents/siblings as I do, and we still find the language hard going sometimes.

If you ever need help here with anything language related let me know and I'll do my best.:s6:

    Hans,

Welcome to the Feldgrau Forum! I was the only North American here for quite a while, so it is nice to see you here. I am familiar with some of your excellent collection from the German Helmet Walhalla website, along with a lot of nice items that belong to my friend, Bob Evans. Check out the "Data Bank" for some great pictures and feel free to add anything you like. We all like to look at quality stuff!

    Best regards,
    Chip

Thanks for the kind welcome Chip. I also have to thank you for introducing me to this forum, because it's actually due to a post on the WAF in which you recommended this forum that I'm a member now.

As for Bob Evans, in my opinion he's the primary reason that the Walhalla forum's various WW1 sections are far superior to any in North America. Ever since he began contributing with his extensive knowledge and insight, not to mention his highly advanced collection, it's been my favourite one.

    Hans,

I think a few of the newest viewers of this forum saw my post, including Joerookery. Glad you stopped by. Many of the nice things you have shown have yet to have been seen on this fairly young forum. Your pictures would be perfect for the appropriate Databank, if you should desire to add them there.

I could not agree more about Bob. We first met in the 1970s at one of the old Cinncinati militaria shows. He has been collecting in this field longer than I have and I have been at it for almost 25 years. He has a great collection.

Ich würde allen Mitgliedern dieses Forums empfehlen, die sich für Stahlhelm und Feldausrüstungsstücke interessieren, die "German Helmet Walhalla" Website zu besuchen.

    Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
    Chip
